  • OUR MISSION

    The World Fringe Alliance combines the resources of some of the world's largest festivals to create a conduit for communication, visibility opportunities and cross-festival participation. The members meet annually to reflect on the status of the modern festival and take actions to better the enjoyment of participants and patrons on a global scale.

    Adelaide Fringe

    Adelaide, Australia
    February 16th to March 18th, 2018

    Adelaide Fringe is an annual open-access arts festival run over four weeks in Adelaide, South Australia during February and March. Unlike a curated festival, the open-access nature of Adelaide Fringe means that anyone with a show, exhibition or cultural event is able to register and be part of Australia’s largest arts event. The result is one of the most diverse arts festivals in the world, renowned for fresh ideas, spontaneity and fun.

    Amsterdam Fringe Festival

    The Amsterdam Fringe Festival takes place in the fringes of the Dutch Theatre Festival, highlighting Amsterdam's avant-garde drama productions. During those 10 Fringe days you can see works from over 80 theatre groups, of unorthodox, national and international theatre directors and artists, at more then 40 different locations spread throughout the city.

    Brighton Fringe

    Brighton Fringe is the largest arts festival in England and one of the largest fringe festivals in the world. For four weeks every May, this south coast city is transformed with hundreds of events of every genre that fill up theatres, pubs, street corners and more besides. In 2017 over 555,000 people attended 4,601 performances of 1,008 shows in 168 venues. Due to its open access nature, anyone can take part in Brighton Fringe. Registration for the 2018 festival runs from 9th October until 19th January.

    The Edinburgh Festival Fringe

    The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world and takes place every August for three weeks in Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city. Every year thousands of performers take to hundreds of stages all over Edinburgh to present shows for every taste. 

    Fringe World Festival

    FRINGE WORLD is one of the fastest growing events in the Southern Hemisphere and the largest annual event in Western Australia. The 2017 Festival played host to 700 plus shows at over 150 venues and performance spaces presenting the work of 3,500 artists to an audience of close to 750,000 people.     Hollywood Fringe Festival

    The largest performing arts festival in Los Angeles is an annual, open-access, community-derived event celebrating freedom of expression and collaboration in the performing arts community. In 2015 almost 300 productions presented 1500 performances across dozens and dozens of performance spaces.

    National Arts Festival

    Grahamstown, South Africa

    The National Arts Festival Fringe is an important event on the South African cultural calendar, and the biggest annual celebration of the arts on the African continent. It runs for 11 days alongside a Main programme, and is held in the small university city of Grahamstown, 130 km from Port Elizabeth. It features around 2500 performances covering every conceivable genre - theatre, music, dance, film, physical theatre, ballet and more - in 60 venues.

    New York International Fringe Festival

    The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC) is the largest multi-arts festival in North America, with more than 200 companies from all over the world performing for 16 days in more than 20 venues.

    Prague Fringe Festival

    Now in its 16th year, the Prague Fringe Festival is an annual performance extravaganza showcasing the work of hundreds of artists from all over the globe. Taking place every May, the festival offers audiences an eclectic mix of theatre, comedy, cabaret, music and more in a variety of quirky venues in the centre of one of the world's most beautiful cities.

    Cape Town Fringe Festival

    The newest member of the World Fringe Alliance, the Cape Town Fringe has held four editions, the most recent being in September 2017. Staging 103 productions in 13 venues across the beautiful city of Cape Town, the Fringe used a range of venues from established theatres through to South Africa's first "shack theatre" in Khayelitsha.
    Predominantly theatre-focused, the Cape Town Fringe works on a selected model where a panel builds a programme from local and international applicants. The productions then compete for the coveted 'Fringe Fresh' Awards as they bring their work to life.
